    Lohit district is the north eastern district of Arunachal Pradesh. The headquarter of Lohit district is Tezu and has an average elevation of 185 metres (606 feet). It is one of the oldest headquarter of Arunachal Pradesh. Tribes like Digaru-Mishmi (Taraons), Miju-Mishmi (Kamans), Idu-Mishmi, Adi and Tai-Khampti are the inhabitant tribes of Lohit district and they are popularly known for their rich customs and culture, colourful traditional dresses and values.

    From erstwhile Fast Track Court which was first established at Namsai Town, District headquarter of Namsai District, the District & Sessions Court was later shifted to Tezu, District headquarter of Lohit District in June 2010 with full pledged official functioning. The first Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge was Shri Budi Habung.
